Perfectionism and mental health

Geranmayepour, S. and Besharat, M.A. (2010). Perfectionism and mental health. Procedia – Social and Behavioral Sciences, 5, pp.643–647.

Abstract: The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between perfectionism and mental health in a sample of students. One hundred and eighty five students (92 girls, 85 boys, 8 unknown) were included in this study. All participants completed the Farsi version of the Positive and Negative Perfectionism Scale (FPANPS; Besharat, 2009) and the Mental Health Inventory (MHI; Besharat, 2006). Positive perfectionism was positively associated with psychological well-being and negatively associated with psychological distress. The results also revealed that negative perfectionism was negatively associated with psychological well-being and positively associated with psychological distress.
